The project was initiated by Lucio Lupacchini & Holger Hoelkeskamp as a Fall story of three girls about the city of Düsseldorf. They wanted to showcase the exquisite locations that the city has to offer as well as take a glimpse into the past.
Lucio developed the concept along with Holger. The aesthetic was 1940’s paparazzi with a strong modern influence. They collaborated with no other than Dunja Antic to photograph the story in Düsseldorf. With settings from Konigs Allee, Schloss Benrath, Friedhof and the Altstadt the team found the perfect setting to bring this story to life.
Lucio created the look with modern & vintage pieces with designers such as Strehlow, Jil Sander, Zara, Moschino, Chloë, & other stories and Prada. He felt that the clothing should represent a group of modern girls who have eclectic style, yet referencing a aesthetic of the extreme feminine in contrast with a strong masculine androgynous influence.
Holger created poetic hairstyles using influences such as Marlene Dietrich, Nicole Kidman and Chloë Sevigny to attribute greatly to the look and feel of the pictures. He accomplished a look of timeless and effortless style with soft waves and textured & tightly pulled back ponytails.
Dunja Antic photographed the story with a super sensitive eye and each picture is lit carefully to invoke emotion and a feeling of nostalgia. She felt a connection to the clothing took special care to shoot them in a superb way.
The story then proceeded to be published in HUF magazine and also received a feature with Dunja’s work in Photo Vogue.
